GET THE HOUSE SPECIAL TOFU. I don’t care if you don’t like tofu or want tofu. Do yourself a favor and get it. I’ve never had anything like it before. We got the tea smoked duck and green beans but the star was the tofu. It’s fried slabs of egg tofu that almost taste like custard, covered with a rich flavorful and almost sweet sauce that goes beautifully with rice. This is one of those dishes I’ll be thinking about for years.
So good. Came here because the reviews were positive and it did not disappoint! The tofu was how everyone described it and the fried rice, chicken, and string beans were all amazing. The best part was our incredibly kind server who reminded me of my mom she was truly so kind and I wanted to get to know her more! 真好吃! Didn’t get pics of when I was there but turns out leftovers are just as great.
Had lunch at Jade Wok near Chinatown and honestly, it hit the spot. The standout for me was definitely the sweet and savory spareribs. They’re sticky, flavorful, and perfectly tender with just a bit of chew. Exactly how you want Chinese-style spareribs to be. The glaze is rich and garlicky with a nice hint of sweetness, and the green onions and sesame seeds on top gave it a nice little pop. We also got the stir-fried greens, which were super simple but fresh and cooked just right. A little crunch, a little tenderness + great as a balance to the heavier dishes. And the braised tofu with minced pork came in a deep, savory sauce that soaked into the tofu beautifully. The tofu was fried just enough to give it some texture on the outside while staying soft inside. Super comforting. It’s not a fancy spot, but the food comes out hot, portions are generous, and everything tastes like it was cooked with care. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and want that classic Chinese comfort food vibe.
My friend brought me to this local family owned restaurant. I was surely amazed by the small establishment ran by husband and wife. The food we ordered was all on point. The tea duck was so juicy and delicious. It was the best I have ever eaten. The snow pea tips were so fresh and young that there was no leftover with a huge portion. Then the house tofu had the best texture and smooth tasting. The dish has some grounded pork and pickle vegetables. This order is their signature dish and now I can see why. The Server was very polite and helpful the whole time we were there. She was checking on us regularly eventhough it was very busy. A must go restaurant in LA!!!
I was recommended this place. They have really great & fast service! The staff was very friendly & the place is also very clean. The food was also very affordable for 2 people. They will also have veggie options if you ask them what’s available. The food was nice & hot, but TBH the noodles we ordered lacked a little flavor. It needed more salt, but the wok hei & charred umami flavor was spot on. However, as a fellow Asian, I was kinda bummed when I read “no MSG” on the front of the menu. MSG can make food so flavorful. It’s not “poison” as westerners would have you believe. westerners should understand that MSG is just like anything else — too much of anything is bad for you. Have it only in moderation, not an overabundance.
This secret little restaurant has a unique soft tofu dish with a brown gravy containing ground meat, green onions and other ingredients. The chicken and mushroom dish had Shiitake mushrooms, fresh mushrooms, chicken, broccoli and other vegetables. It's very yummy, homey and satisfying. They have a crunchy Hong Kong style noodle option which is different than the normal yellow, thin, crispy egg noodle or wheat noodle. Their Ong Choy vegetables were fantastic! Sesame chicken was good. It's like Popcorn Chicken, but with a slightly sweet sesame coating. I added some new ones. House special Egg Foo Young. Good! Beef Chow Fun noodles. Beef stew and won ton mein soup. Lots of bok choy! Added plus!
Best tofu dish I’ve ever had. If you come here, make sure you order it. Shrimp fried rice was great too, perfect pairing with the tofu and its sauce. Friendly and fast service, I’ll be back!
Very traditional HK food! Excellent service with great food! Highly recommended and would love to go again! Thank you so much for the amazing food!
